Privacy Policy

In short: TARV collects nothing about you. No account, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking, no analytics, no profiling, no cloud. Your recordings and settings stay on your device. The app needs the internet only to play the live radio you choose and to fetch cover art.

This policy explains what the TARV Android app and the tarv.app website do — and do not do — with information. TARV is built around “your radio, your records”: ownership and privacy are the point.

What we do NOT collect

No account / sign-in — you never create an account or give us any identity.
No analytics, telemetry, tracking or profiling inside the app. No advertising, no ad SDKs, no advertising identifiers.
No personal data — no name, email, contacts, location, phone identifiers, or usage history is collected, transmitted to us, or sold/shared with advertisers or data brokers. We operate no servers that receive your data.

What stays on your device

Your recordings — tracks you save (❤) are written to your device’s media library (Music/TARV/…) and never leave it unless you choose to export/share them yourself.
Your settings — your station list, chosen visualizer preset, and similar preferences are stored locally on the device only.

Network connections the app makes

The app needs the internet for its core function. When you use it, it connects to:

The radio stations you choose — to play and (on ❤) record their live audio stream. These are third-party broadcasters; their own privacy practices apply to your direct connection to them.
Cover-art lookup (Apple iTunes Search & Deezer public APIs) — to illustrate a saved track, the app sends only the now-playing artist and title text to these services to find album artwork. No identifier about you is sent.
Station catalog — when added in a future version, the app may fetch a read-only station catalog from our COLLECTOR backend. This is a download of public station data; it sends no personal data.

Permissions, and why

INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — play live radio and fetch cover art.
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO — read your own recorded library (its own Music/TARV folder).
POST_NOTIFICATIONS — show the playback/recording control notification.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE (+ MEDIA_PLAYBACK) — keep playing/recording with the screen off.
WAKE_LOCK — avoid sleep cutting a long recording. VIBRATE — haptic feedback.

The app deliberately does not request the microphone (it records the network stream, never your room) or broad storage access — it stays within its own media folder.

The tarv.app website

The website uses Plausible Analytics, self-hosted in the EU — privacy-friendly, cookieless, with no cross-site tracking and no personal data. It counts anonymous page views only. This applies to the website, not the app (the app has no analytics).

Children

TARV is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above changes with it. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
